What can I say
that hasn't already been said by any man
visiting Russia for the first time.
To simply say that I found the great majority
of the women attractive is an understatement.
I, as most Americans still do, had thought of Russian women as the stereotypical
fat, dumb,
unkempt peasant
woman
in some dress that resembled a potato sack.
Perhaps in Stalin's days, but
not any longer. To make a long story short, my preconceptions were
shattered immediately upon my arrival and reinforced every day for over two
years.
Every where I looked, I saw beautiful, svelte, highly-educated and
intelligent women. The American women that I was used to,
definitely took second place right away
in my mind.
Of course, the fact that I was over 50 years old at the time,and that young
Russian ladies prefered older men had nothing whatsoever to do with my thinking
or my bias.
Also, the fact that I was an American,financially well-to-do
in comparison to the Russian male, and in pretty good shape, helped.
I never lacked for companionship and those two years taught me to appreciate
real women
